Our Mission

At Abby Altenhofen Communication Therapy, we believe that every child is a masterpiece created by God—with a purpose and a voice worth hearing.

Rooted in faith and guided by compassion and expertise, we provide personalized, evidence-based speech and language therapy in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Rooted in Faith, Growing in Purpose

Our logo- a small acorn growing into a mighty tree-symbolizes our deep belief:

Every child has the power to grow and flourish with the help of God.

While others may focus on what is small or hard to see, we trust in the full picture of God’s perfect plan—knowing that He sees the strength, beauty, and potential planted within each child.

Our Heart for Communication

We believe that each child is wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)

We are committed to meeting every child’s unique needs through thoughtful, intentional care. We come alongside families to unlock the potential within each child, equipping them with a variety of communication tools and encouraging their growth in skill, confidence, and spirit.

Our goal is to help every child grow in their ability to connect with others, build self-esteem, and thrive—both in communication and in life—because communication is a gift, and every child deserves the ability to use it fully.

About the Owner: Abby Altenhofen, M.A., CCC-SLP

Hi, I’m Abby! I’m a licensed speech-language pathologist, a wife and mom, and a believer in the power of faith, connection, and communication. I founded Abby Altenhofen Communication Therapy with a calling to serve children and families with compassion, excellence, and purpose—because I believe every child is created by God with a voice worth hearing.

I provide individualized, family-centered speech and language therapy in homes, daycares, and online. My sessions are rooted in play, connection, and joy—because children thrive when they feel seen, heard, and loved.

I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Iowa, and I’m a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

My areas of expertise include:

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

  • Articulation

  • Language development

  • Early intervention through child-led, play-based therapy

As a therapist, I see each child as a masterpiece in progress (Ephesians 2:10), uniquely made and deeply loved. It’s my joy to come alongside families, empowering children with the tools they need to express themselves confidently—because communication is a gift, and every child deserves to use it fully.
